Wayne Richardson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home - Jena on Feb. 27, 2025.
Wayne David Richardson of Jena, La., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February
25, 2025 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10:00 A.M., at Midway Baptist
Church with Brother Dick Enterkin and Brother Daniel Breithaupt officiating.
He will be laid to rest in the Nebo Cemetery in the Nebo Community with Brother Johnnie
Phillips officiating, under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena,
Louisiana. Pallbearers will be his nephews Keith Elliott, Dennis Elliott, Timmy Elliott, Marty
Paulk, Adam Taylor and Stephen Crooks.
Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Midway Baptist Church, the Men's Sunday
School class, Cleveland Poole, Harold Windham, J.W. Thomas, Johnnie Phillips,
Carlos Crooks, Steve Crooks, Kenny Bell, Paul K. Bell, Jimmy Willis, Robert Willis
and Brandon Phan.
Wayne was born May 5, 1941, in Trout, Louisiana, to the union of Clyde S. Richardson
and Ima Mae Miles Richardson.
He was a first class and animated storyteller and comedian. He loved to
entertain with many stories, some true and some not so true. Wayne was a longtime
member of Midway Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon. He was
an oilfield salesman for Continental Emsco and Bell Supply. He also served as a
police jury member for many years and was a bus driver for LaSalle Parish Schools,
where he fell in love with his little passengers. He was happy to serve on the
Council on Aging. Among his many passions, he loved to go deer hunting. He loved to
load up his 4-wheeler and ride out to his deer stand where he would take long naps
apparently. He could never officially "retire" from anything because he could never sit
still too long and was always looking forward to his next project. Wayne was a
member of the 1959 JHS graduating class. He looked forward to the class re-unions
and visiting and cooking with his friends.
We are sure of his salvation and that we will see him again someday. He was a good
husband, daddy and papa to his girls. He never said goodbye. He would always just
say, "I love you a Bushel and a Peck and a hug around the neck."
Wayne is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 62 years, Carrie
Anne "Rannie" Crooks Richardson, two daughters, Karen Smith (Cliff), and Libby
Warwick (Brandon), three grandchildren that he loved with all his heart, Rachel,
Hannah and Shannon. He is also survived by his two sisters, Wanda Paulk and Sue
Willis (Jimmy). His nephews Rob Willis, Marty Paulk. His nieces Lori Coombs and
Deborah Poole. Many great nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends too
numerous to count.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-dad John M. Taylor Jr., a brother-
in-law Horace L. Paulk and a nephew Horace L. Paulk Jr., affectionately known as JR.
