Wayne Wilbert Riemer, age 84 of Montello passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 8, 2023 at his home. Wayne was born in Milwaukee on December 26, 1938 to Wilbert and Hilda (Thurs) Riemer and graduated from Menomonee Falls High School. He graduated in 1960 with an apprenticeship in Plate and Structural layout. Wayne served his country as a member of the Navy Reserves. He was a machinist for several different companies in the Milwaukee area building and installing printing equipment until he retired in 1998.
He married Marilyn Zacharias on October 3, 1992 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello.
Wayne was a very mechanically gifted person; he could fix anything. He also had a love for building and flying remote controlled model airplanes. Some of Wayne’s other hobbies included: hunting, fishing and especially camping. He was a member of the Montello Rod and Gun Club and the Black Powder Club. He also was an instructor to many children on hunter safety with the gun club. He was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello and was always willing to help others. Wayne will be remembered by all for his handiness and willingness to help fix anything.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marilyn and two daughters: Mary (Jeff) Reimer of Altoona and Julie (Bryan) Busch of Waterford as well as his granddaughter, Paige Reimer. He is also survived by his brother, Dareld (Cindy) Riemer, sister-in-law, Vicki Davis as well as Marilyn’s very important and extended family members.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, mother of his children, brother-in-law and his second wife.
A memorial service for Wayne Riemer will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. Pastor Pete Zietlow will preside. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 313 E. Montello Street, Montello, WI 53949.
