Wayne Shepherd, 75 of Lizton, Indiana passed away September 27, 2024 in Life's Journey Hospice of Avon.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, October 1, at Your Venture Church, Pittsboro, IN, where friends and family will gather from 11 am until the time of the service. He will be laid to rest in the Lizton K of P Cemtery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Eric MD Bell Funeral Home.

Below is a life story provided by Wayne’s loving family.
After a long illness, Wayne Shepherd went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 27, 2024. He passed peacefully, with his family at his side.
Wayne was born on April 29, 1949, in Indianapolis, IN to Clifford and Ireatha Shepherd. He spent his youth between Adair County, KY , where his grandparents lived, and his home in Indianapolis. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1967. Wayne married Judy Bray, his wife of 54 years, in 1970. He worked at the Carrier Corporation for 46 years and retired as an electrician. He was a member of Your Venture Church, in Lizton, IN where he worshiped and served alongside his family.
Wayne and Judy were next door neighbors, so Judy’s family becoming Wayne’s family was a seamless fit. Among the host of cousins in Kentucky, with whom Wayne shared his rich family heritage, he is also survived by many sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews from Judy’s side of the family. They all have shared memories of growing up together, sharing in holiday celebrations, and life events, both happy and sad.
Wayne and Judy share 3 daughters. Melissa, Jennifer, and Heather The lights of his life were his grandsons, Matthew and Evan. In Wayne’s words, they were ‘tight’. And as life gives continued blessings, he shared a special bond with his son in law, Chris. Another blessing has come with the addition of Randy, Heather’s fiancé .

Ireatha Lyons (mother, aged 96 years)

Virginia Wills, sister
Wayne had 11 nieces and nephews, 20 great nieces and nephews, and 4 great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved and enjoyed.

Mildred Shepherd, step mother
Leonard Lyons, step father
Wayne always took the opportunity to help others and teach others to do for themselves. He spoke life into everyone he encountered. His legacy is one filled with laughter, knowledge and wisdom. He poured love into others and his influence is far reaching. All of us who have been blessed by his life are better for it and we will always strive to emulate his heart for others.
