Wayne David Terry

Wayne David Terry, age 83, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Baptist Health Lexington, following a brief illness. Born Sunday, February 15, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Raymond & Sarah Miracle Terry. His loving wife and best friend, whom he married Thursday, October 8, 1998, is Katie Ballard Terry of Stanford. Wayne was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked as a water plant operator. Wayne loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them. He would often tell them and others how proud he was of them and all their accomplishments in life. Wayne was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church, where he previously served as Sunday School Teacher. Wayne loved his Lord and enjoyed serving Him every opportunity he received. Wayne also enjoyed his morning breakfast with friends at Coleman's. Wayne enjoyed traveling with his wife Katie, and was an avid UK Basketball fan.

In addition to his wife, Wayne leaves behind three sons, Raymond David Terry (Jennifer) and Amel Wayne Terry (Rhonda) both of Lexington, Kentucky, and Jeffrey Scott Lane (Heather) of Crab Orchard, Kentucky; two daughters, Linda Marie Carpenter (Andrew) of Lexington, and Lisa Lane Curlis (Brett) of Stanford; nine grandchildren, Lindsey Thompson (Jacob), A. Tayler Carpenter (Kendra), Jonathon "Jack" Carpenter, Sarah Terry, Ethan Lane, Emma Lane, Tyler Fryman, Haley Justice, and Alex Justice; three great-grandchildren, Walker Douglas Thompson, Maverick Wayne Thompson, and Addison Claire Carpenter; a special honorary granddaughter, Ashley Pulver; and several other extended family members and friends whom mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Henderson Terry.

A Public Visitation will be held 5-8PM Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Fairview Baptist Church.

A Public Funeral Service will be held 1PM Monday, December 22, 2025, at the church. Bro. David Conrades and Bro. Dustin Oney will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Wayne's memorial page of the funeral home's website.

Burial, with Full Military Honors, will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. A. Tayler Carpenter, Jonathon "Jack" Carpenter, Ethan Lane, Jimmy Henderson, Jamie Henderson, and Michael Henderson will serve as Active Pallbearers. Calvin Denham will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.
