Monica Sims

Monica Lynn Sims, 56, of Stanford, KY passed away at home on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Born on December 31, 1969 in Pikeville, KY to Saddie Slone Justice and the late B.J. Thacker

Monica was a woman who found joy in the simple, wholesome pleasures of life. Her passion for reading provided her with endless hours of enjoyment, and her natural talent for cooking created many memorable meals for those she loved. Monica was especially great at making desserts, peanut butter cake and cheesecake were favorites. She presented them to look like they had been made at the bakery, but it was the love with which they were made that made them truly special. As a woman who was always thinking of others, she worried about everyone but herself. Her kind, sweet, and thoughtful nature inspired the lives of those who knew her. She was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her family dearly.

Survivors include her loving husband of 36 years, Shane Sims; one daughter, C'acie Sims; mother, Saddie Justice; two siblings, Docketta Justice and Jimmy Justice; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, B.J. Thacker; stepfather, Dock Justice; and maternal grandparents, Acie and Rebecca Slone.

Visitation will on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Gooch Cemetery in Kings Mountain, KY.

Active Pallbearers are Jeff Sims, Jimmy Justice, Marion Sims, Dr. Chris Sims and Brian Robinson.

Honorary Pallbearers are Dennis Harris, Frank Horton and Clinton Sims.
