John Coleman

John Coleman, 63, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 23, 2026. Born on December 10, 1962 in Danville, KY to the late Sam and Ethel Conaster Coleman.

John was a man who never met a stranger, a true cutup. He had a knack for making people smile with his jokes and stories. His love for Ginseng hunting and riding 4-wheelers, particularly the thrill of getting stuck in and then escaping the mud, was second to none. However, what truly set John apart was his unique ability to turn the mundane into the memorable. John lived each day with a sense of purpose and passion, fueled by his love for his family and his cattle. He was a member of Hilltop House of Praise.

Survivors include his loving wife, Pam Rhoades Coleman; five sons, Jeffrey Reynolds (Elizabeth) of Stanford, Johnthan Coleman (Brittany) of Stanford, Eric Coleman (Danielle) of Stanford, Aaron Coleman of Stanford and Nicholas Lay of Oregon; two daughters, Brandye Hardin (Brandon) of Texas and Annette Rhoades of Winchester, KY; two sisters, Christine Smith and Connie Peyton; two brothers, Mark Coleman and Jerry Coleman; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his special dogs/kids, Socks and Rosco.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ethel "Mammie" Coleman; six siblings, Clyde Coleman, Becky Mounce, Brenda Griffin, Louis Coleman, Gordon Coleman and Faye Griffin; and one grandson, Deven Dees.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY with Bro. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.

Active Pallbearers are Scott Newcomb, Kris Coleman, Jeffrey Reynolds, Stanley "Porky" Moore, C.J. Hampton, Josh Gerkey, Johnnie Hodge and Scotty Burkhart.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bruce Holt, Danny Harmon, Steve Turner, Steve Coleman and Ralph Gerkey.
