Wayne Floyd Wells, age 68, of Tecumseh, Michigan, died of multiple organ failure on July 29, 2025, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He was born in Farmington, New Mexico on November 28, 1956, along with his twin brother Dwayne, to Ewin and Mildred Wells. Wayne graduated from Farmington High School and then served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pusan, South Korea. He spoke fluent Korean, and he and his wife loved watching Korean dramas together.
After his mission, Wayne earned multiple college degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from San Juan College and Brigham Young University, as well as an MBA from University of Toledo. He was passionate about chemistry and worked as a chemist and chemical engineer at Wacker Chemical Corporation for 28 years.
Wayne grew up in the same town in New Mexico with the love of his life, Nancy; however, they didn't start dating until college, and the two later married in 1979. They were blessed with 6 children – 5 daughters and 1 son. Their children mean the world to them.
Wayne was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, devoting his time and energy to teaching others about Christ. He especially loved working with the youth as a Boy Scout leader, Seminary instructor, and bishop.
Wayne was a runner, artist, gardener, avid reader, and good friend. Everyone loved his wry wit and sense of humor.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Ewin and Mildred; twin brother Dwayne; and son William. He is survived by his wife Nancy; daughters Amy Wells, Melanie Wells, Jessica Wells, Breanna (Jared) Whipple, and Andra (Todd) Lainhart; 7 grandchildren; his siblings Rosalie and Storm; and 63 nieces and nephews.
We will miss Wayne every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who love him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting house at 140 Sand Creek Highway in Adrian, Michigan.
