Wayne Robert Wentworth, lovingly known as "Winky," passed away on March 23, 2025, after a courageous nine-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 70 years old.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts, in 1954, Wayne graduated from Waltham High School and began his career at Polaroid in Waltham in 1975 while working with his father in the family tree removal business. In 1983, he and his family moved to Alton, New Hampshire, where he expanded the family arborist business. Years later, he established his own successful branch, Wentworth Tree Service, where his hard work and dedication earned him respect in the community.
Wayne's passion for music led him to spend many joyful years as a DJ, sharing his love of dancing and celebration with others. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 72 as a Son of a Legion and was well known as the life of the party - always quick to laugh, move to the music and bring people together.
He found joy in simple pleasures: golfing, fishing, the ocean, movie quotes, seafood feasts, and watching The Price Is Right. Even in retirement, Wayne continued to stay active, working as a groundskeeper at Kingswood Golf Club in Wolfeboro, NH and the Golf Club of Amelia Island at the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island, FL.
In July 2025, after receiving his diagnosis, Wayne moved to Yulee, Florida, where he spent his final months with loved ones and doing what he loved most - fishing and being near the beach. He faced his illness with courage and strength, surrounded by the love of his family.
Wayne often said, "Oooh, baby," when something delighted him, and when times were tough, he'd remind those around him to "Quit your boo-hooin' and whoop it up!" His joyful energy, love of life, and unforgettable sayings will echo in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Wayne is survived by his oldest daughter, Lisa Wentworth Pope, her husband Aaron, and their two children, Colby and Riley Pope; his son, Kevin Wentworth, his wife, Christen Wentworth and Kevin's daughters, Amaya and Alanna; and his youngest daughter, Nicole Wentworth, and her two children, Brinley and Gunnar Roaf. He is also survived by his older brother, Frederick Wentworth; younger sisters, Deborah Kivlehan and Shirley Penney, and his youngest sister, Lynn Wentworth, who lovingly and attentively cared for him, in her home, up until his passing. Wayne leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all part of the large family he cherished.

I worked with Wayne many years ago at Polaroid. We had a lot of fun things outside of work. I contacted him last year and we talked about old times. He will be missed!

To my wonderful baby dolls I will always miss you. You were the best cousin a girl could have. I loved so deeply Wayne and always had many great laughs together. Plum island was the bomb for all of us kids. You were a true friend and the best cousin, along with the rest of your brothers and sisters. We will see each other again.
