Wayne T. Whitehead of Brainerd passed away last year, March 4, 2025. He was born June 1, 1930 to Allen and Florence (Nesmith) Whitehead at his grandparents’ house near Bass Lake in Faribault County. He grew up in Delavan and graduated from Delavan High School in 1948 then enlisted in the Navy where he served on a destroyer.
He married Beverly Claude in 1952 and they lived on her family farm for many years and later moved to the Brainerd area. Wayne became a realtor and retired in his 80s as the oldest licensed realtor in the state.
He is survived by his children Trudy (Jerome) Kuechle, Judy Whitehead (Brian Owen), Tom (Denise) Whitehead, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and his sister Donna Frank,
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, son in law Eric Abbott, and his brotherr Gordon Whitehead.
A private service with military honors was held at Camp Ripley last year.
