Weldon Smith Obituary

Our beloved husband, brother and friend, Weldon Joe Smith, 78 of Huntington, TX, passed away peacefully on Decemeber 6, 2025.

Weldon Joe was born to Weldon Smith and Daisy Marie Wells, Smith, and grew up in Post, Texas alongside his siblings, Bobby Jack Smith, Daisy Oehler, Susie Catalina and Kimmie Underhill.

Weldon attended Post, Texas public schools and in 1964, at the age of 17 with his parent's consent, he enlisted into the United States Navy where he would retire after a very successful career as Chief Engineman.

Weldon met and married Janice Lynn in 1984 and they lived in San Diego, California while he was stationed in the Navy. They moved back to Lufkin, TX when Weldon retired, and on January 11, 1999, Janice passed away.

Weldon met and married Rachel Graham on May 9th, 1999 and they lived in Huntington, TX until Weldon was moved into Parkwood in the Pines nursing home with dementia until he passed on December 6, 2025.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Janice Lynn Smith, his brother Bobby Jack Smith, and his parents Weldon and Daisy Smith.

Survivors include his wife Rachel Graham Smith, sister Daisy Oehler and husband Dennis of Llano, sister Susie Catalina and husband John of College Station, and sister Kimmie Underhill and husband Larry of Mesquite, along with many nephews and nieces.

Weldon had a passion for reading and he loved going to the races. He enjoyed wood working, fishing and playing pranks but mostly Weldon loved his family and his Country; he fought for our freedom with his heart and soul, and had a kinship with his fellow veterans.

He loved to joke around and make sure you always had a smile on your face before he left you. He will be missed.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to our Veterans of America.

God bless!
