Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rogers Funeral Home on Dec. 29, 2025.
Wendell Alan Saunders, 84, passed away in Coweta, OK December 27, 2025. He was born on January 21, 1941, in Wilson, OK, the first of seven children born to Edna Margie and Homer Emet Saunders . He graduated from Wilson High School in 1958, and then attended Oklahoma State University until he was drafted by the Army. Wendell served two years, stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, where he began his career in the computer industry. After a long drive from Anchorage to Oklahoma, he returned to OSU until he accepted a job in the computer industry. Later, he accepted a job with Univac, where he worked for more than two decades. The position took him to the Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK. There, he met and married Nancy Jo Meade, who had four children. They later had one child together, Nichole. The family moved to El Paso, TX, where Wendell first worked in the missile silos at White Sands National Park. Later, the family relocated to Austin, TX. In 1982, Wendell moved to Tulsa, and married twice more, first, to Norma Jean Fulbright in 1983, and then to Connie Lee Dobbins in 1999. Wendell retired in his 50s, where he spent his time fishing, maintaining his immaculate yard and gardens, and spend time with his family. He loved spending time with his daughter, stepchildren, grandchildren and great granchildren.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Margie Saunders, brother Kenneth Saunders and his wife Janna, and his brother Joey. He is survived by his daugter, Nichole Saunders and her two children (Cam and Quinn), his two sisters, LaDana Christy and Sandra Tillotson and her husband Tom, brothers Homer Saunders, Jr., and Johnny Saunders and his wife Joy. He is also survived by his stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
