Wendell Orie Dean II

Wendell Dean II July 3, 1953 – August 5, 2025 Wendell Dean II, 72, of Waldorf Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, after a courageous nine-year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He faced his illness with incredible strength and courage, smiling through even the hardest days. A devoted family man, Wendell shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Dean. Together they raised four children: Justin Dean (Cayty), Brandon Dean (Megan), Treeci Bond (Ryan Pagel), and Jonathan Dean (Roxie) and were blessed with 13 cherished grandchildren: Simon, Finnis, Gilbert, Isaac, Willow, John, Peyton, Grayson, Landon, Abigail, Aubrey, Alessa, and Marco. Wendell's love of his family extended to his role as brother, brother-in-law, cousin, father-in-law and uncle to many, always ready to lend a hand or share his wisdom. Wendell's greatest joy was his family, but his generosity extended to everyone he met. Many described him as the nicest and kindest man they had ever known. A natural problem-solver, Wendell could fix anything. If he didn't know how, he would research and figure it out. In his free time Wendell enjoyed puzzles, the beach, traveling, bird watching, and playing cards. Wendell worked for 30 years as an elevator mechanic for the federal government, spending 25 years at the Federal Reserve, where he was not only an exceptional employee but also formed lifelong friendships. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Wendell is survived by his sister Carol Parnell, sister Ruth Dodge (Nathan Corbell), brother David Dean (Stephanie) and stepmother Sylvia Dodge-Dean. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Dean and Wendell Dean I and his son-in-law Michael Bond. Family will receive visitors on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at New Life Church (The Chapel) in La Plata, Maryland, with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Following the service, family and friends are invited to join the Dean Family for a repast at the Moose Lodge, 4765 Crain Hwy, White Plains, MD 20695. Flowers may be sent to New Life Church in La Plata 9690 Shepherds Creek Place La Plata, MD 20646.
