Wendell Lee Maples, age 74 of Highlandville, died August 8, 2023. He was born September 16, 1948 in Ozark, the son of Loren and Velvie (Moore) Maples.
Wendell was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church – Tory Creek, Highlandville.
He and Kathy were blessed for many years by a loving church family and numerous generous friends and neighbors who the family greatly appreciate. After rededicating his life to Christ 15 years ago, he enjoyed farming, cattle and his tractor. If you needed someone to give you a hard time...he was the guy to go to!
Survivors include: His wife, Kathy Maples of Highlandville; his children, Steve Perkins of Springfield, Brad Maples and wife Melinda of Springfield, Cindy Maples (Jerad Wyatt) of Sunrise Beach and Lisa Johnson of Battlefield and fiancé Jeff Carner of Ozark; 13 grandchildren; his great grandchildren; and his siblings, Martha Ellen White of Highlandville, Marcella Moore of Springfield, and Jean Coats and husband Lendal of Independence.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; and other siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church – Tory Creek, Highlandville, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with Pastor Matthew Mays officiating. Burial will follow at Tory Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. On Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
