My dad, Werner's brother Peter, died almost exactly two years ago in December 2015.
We have visited Werner and his family for the first time back in 1971, when they were so kind to host my parents and me for four weeks in their Ravenna, OH, home. It was our first trip to the US and I am still having vivid and fond memories of this stay. We have met a few more times with Werner, Carol, the boys, Ili and her sons in the US and in Germany.
His sparkish and inventive spirit will survive him and my mom Baerbel and I will keep those fond memories in our hearts.
Tschuess, Onkel Werner...

Werner shared his wonderful son Mark with me for a lifetime and I am grateful. We also skied down a steep hill in friendly but serious competition and nearly ran ourselves into the river! Werner had a wonderful engineering mind and kept in shape by sailboarding which he could never teach me to do as well as he could. Thank you Werner for your gifts and children...may you find peace amongst the stars.

When first meeting Vern at a Scott Fetzer Company Key Employee function 35 years ago, I wasn't sure how to react to his very outgoing personality and German accent. Then I met Ili, with her Latin accent and way and I was more confused. But as our friendship grew over the years, I came to love them both and realized how much alike Vern and I really were. I have missed Ili since her passing and I know I will miss Vern a lot.
