Werth Kemble Dean Jr.

Werth Kemble Dean Jr., 75 of Ashaway, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at his home on September 23, 2025.

Born in Atmore, Alabama on August 1, 1950, Werth was baptized in the Christian faith and lived his life with quiet strength, curiosity and devotion to family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Werth Kemble Dean Sr. and Jewel Bondurant Dean, as well as his wife Donalda "Donnie" Falcone Dean. He is survived by his sister Beverely Dean Howell (Gary), his sister-in-law Terry Ajamian (Gary), and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, who will cherish his memory.

Werth's lifelong spirit of service began early. He was proud to have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, a recognition that reflected his commitment to discipline, integrity, and leadership. Following his service in the US Navy, from which he was honorably discharged in November 1974, Werth graduated from Thames Valley Technical Institute. He went on to work for Sperry Rand, providing technical support on the Navy's Research Vessel NR1, combining his love of engineering with service to his country.

Though he never sought formal titles, Werth was at heart, an engineer. His natural talent and insatiable curiosity made him a gifted problem-solver. He had a remarkable ability to work across disciplines---whether computer, software, or technical documentation---and was a skilled "do-it- yourselfer" in the truest sense. He also loved his wood stove and took great pride in the self-sufficiency of heating with wood, a reflection of his independence and resourcefulness.

Werth and his late wife, Donnie, spent many happy summers at Misquamicut Beach, soaking up the sun, enjoying the ocean surf, and cherishing the friendships they built within their beach community.

Werth will be remembered for his intelligence, humility and quiet kindness. His legacy lives on in the family and friends, who loved him dearly and in the many lives he touched with his generosity and talents.

A gathering of family and friends in celebration of Werth's life will take place on Friday, October 3,2025 from 11:00 ~ 1:00PM at Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI
