Wesley (Wes) Oyama, 74 of Kihei, Maui, passed away on February 8, 2025 at Straub Hospital on Oahu. He was born on September 4, 1950 to Robert Tadashi and Clara Akiko Oyama.
Wes began his multitude of careers as a body and fender apprentice before becoming a land surveyor. With his love of math and learning, he soon became the youngest party chief in Hawaii at the time. However, with the fall of construction in 1976, his company, Park Engineering closed its doors. Wes then began a new trade in auto detailing and body side molding with Servco Pacific. He worked his way up to manager and eventually decided he wanted to try his hand at opening his own business with partner, Robert Abe, in the Maui he fell in love with. they then decided to open Maui Family Billiards since they both avid pool shooters. After a fire destroyed their auto detaling warehouse, Wes learned his next trade that turned out to be his calling and the one he loved the most, plumbing.
He will be fondly remembered by his many customers, friends and fellow plumbers as a fun, and loving and compassionate person who always brought warmth and laughter to thoes around him.
He is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Lindsey, sister Charlene (Allan) Morikawa, niece Andrea (Steve) McCravy and nephew Chad Morikawa.
A memorial service will be held in Maui at a later date.
