Wes passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the Wisner Care Center in Wisner, NE.
Wesley Harold Schutte was born January 16, 1927 on the family farm near Wisner, NE to George and Leona (Meyer) Schutte. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church.
Wesley attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School and later graduated from West Point High School in May of 1944.
Wesley enlisted in the army on June 7, 1945, at the end of World War II. He was honorably discharged on January 23, 1947, after serving in Korea, and then was a member of the Beemer American Legion Post #159 for many years.
On April 23, 1950, Wesley was married to Delila Kloth. The couple welcomed their daughter Rachel in 1951, but then, sadly, Delila passed away in February of 1952 from kidney disease. Wesley married Dorothy Biermann on Easter Sunday, April 21, 1957, and they had three sons: Ray, Paul, and Lee.
Wesley farmed with his father and his two brothers south of Wisner. He eventually moved back to the farm where he had been born, and he and Dorothy raised their four children there. Wesley was a lifelong member of Zion-St. John Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Lutheran Layman's League and held different offices over the years.
Wesley always enjoyed family gatherings where he could visit with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and tell stories of "when he was a lad."
