Wesley Duane Voth died peacefully at his home surrounded by his children on July 30, 2024, in Wichita, KS at the age of 67.
Wes is survived by his children, son Rex Voth, daughter Kayla Fontaine and her husband Cody Fontaine and grandson Kyson Fontaine, brothers Bob Blackmore, Galen Voth, Brian Voth (Gayle Funk), sister Linda Schill (Danny), and Wes' significant other, Edna Trenkle along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Orlando and Virginia Voth and sisters Becky Haile and Janice Winter.
Wes was born on October 2, 1956, in Newton, KS to Orlando and Virginia (Casey) Voth. He attended St. Mary's Parochial school through 6th grade, and Santa Fe Junior High School, both in Newton, KS. After moving with his family to Goessel, KS in 1970, Wes attended and graduated from Goessel High School. After high school graduation, Wes began working at Hesston Corporation followed by Associated Company, Inc., Boeing, Albertson and Hein, and Spirit Aerospace. He attended Wichita State University but did not complete a degree.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending high school and college sporting events of children of family and friends that he knew. Wes tried to make it to at least one Goessel High School football and basketball game each season whenever possible as well as Track and Field events. He enjoyed playing golf but never felt that he was more than a hacker. One of Wes' bucket list goals was to visit all 50 states and all 50 state capitals. He made it to 42 states and 28 state capitals. His retirement plans were going to include hunting and fishing as well as traveling to all 50 states before he lost his battle with cancer.
A memorial service and inurnment are scheduled for September 14, 2024, at 11 AM at the Tabor Mennonite Church cemetery. All are welcome to attend. There will be a light luncheon and time for visiting and sharing stories in the Tabor Mennonite Church Hospitality Hall following the service. Tabor Mennonite Church is located at 891 Chisholm Trail, Newton, KS (3 miles south of Goessel, KS and 1 mile east of K-15 Hwy)
Being an animal lover and dog/cat dad and taking his dog, Tater, on many rides in his 1923 Ford Model T Touring car, the family requests memorials be made to the Kansas Humane Society.
