Wesley “Wes” Charles Williams, age 77, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Randolph Health Services with family by his side.
Wes was born on Nov. 4, 1948 in Beaver Dam the son of Thomas Hughes and Dorothy Marion (Baker) Williams. He grew up in Cambria, attending Cambria Elementary School and was a 1966 graduate of Cambria High School. Wes worked various jobs until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, Wes was united in marriage to Carmen J. Smits at the Friesland Reformed Church on June 15, 1968. Wes was employed for 39 years with National Rivet in Waupun. He was a past member of the Friesland Community Church where he served as Deacon, an Elder, was the Sunday school superintendent and did custodial care. Wes was also a past member of Friesland Fire Dept., an active member of emergency management for the Village of Friesland and past president of Friesland’s Bicentennial Celebration committee. In his free time Wes enjoyed fishing, gardening and attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. What brought Wes his greatest joy was spending time with his grand and great grandchildren.
Wes will be sadly missed and mourned by his wife, Carmen Williams of Friesland; his three children, Steve (Valerie) Williams of Friesland, Marcus (Sheila) Williams of Randolph and Monica (Dennis) Curtis of Friesland; his five grandchildren, Owen (Rachel) Williams, Leah Schaalma, Tanner Schaalma, Macy Williams (fiancé, Carter Smits) and Haley Williams (fiancé, Eli Lehman); his three great grandchildren, Wesson Williams, Jaxson Williams and Alora Schaalma; one sister, Loretta Tessmann of Oconomowoc; several other relatives and many friends.
Wes was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Glen Tessmann and Calvin Smits.
Visitation for Wesley will be held on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Cambria. Private family funeral services will be held on Monday with burial to follow at the Friesland Cemetery.
