Wilbert Cantun was so much more than a father, husband, brother, and friend - he was a light in our lives. Everyone who knew him remembers his laugh, his humor, and the way he could bring joy to any room.
Life wasn't always easy for him. Losing both of his parents at such a young age could have hardened his heart, but instead, he poured all the love he had into raising me and my siblings. He gave us the best of himself, no matter what he had to carry inside.
One of my sweetest memories will always be the little things he did to make us feel special. After school, he'd be there waiting for me and my younger brother, ready to take us to the store for ice cream. With a playful smile, he'd whisper, "no le vallan a decir a su mama." Of course, later one of us would slip up and tell her - but that never stopped him. He loved making those moments for us, filling our childhood with laughter and love.
Today, I don't want to say goodbye. Instead, I say see you later. Papi, I love you forever and always. You will always live in my heart, mi Yucca.
