Mr. Wilbert Tyler, age 92 was born May 29, 1933 to the late Leonard Tyler and Pearlie Hardin Tyler. Mr. Wilbert was married to his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Alice Lowery Tyler, who gained her heavenly wings on October 26, 2017. Mr. Tyler was a carpenter by trade until he retired 30 years ago from Dial and Tyler Construction, from which he was a co-owner. He was a Master Carpenter and was known for his quality carpentry and built homes all around Robeson, Scotland, Hoke, Cumberland and Moore Counties. Mr. Wilbert enjoyed fresh water fishing and tried to do it as much as he could and also enjoyed listening to gospel music and playing his guitar.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Tyler was preceded in death by his son, Mitchell Tyler; seven brothers - William Carey "Pete", Tyler, Redelle Tyler, Robert Tyler, Marvin Tyler, Elwood "Buck" Tyler, Eugene Tyler and Carlise Tyler.
Mr. Wilbert leaves to cherish his memories: Four daughters - Betty Tyler Brown of Red Springs, NC; Laura Tyler of Lumberton, NC; Darlene Tyler Cummings (husband, Steve) of Laurinburg, NC; Teresa Lewallen (husband, Michael) of Cary, NC; One (1) Sister, Jeanette Tyler Hunt of Maxton, NC; Two (2) brothers - Ronald Tyler (Linda) of Hope Mills, NC and Lannie Ray Tyler (Annette) of Maxton, NC; Eight (8) Grandchildren - Holly Pilson; Brent Tyler; Tyler Cummings; Ashley Bradley; Sierra Lewallen; Brittaney Strickland; Christopher Brown; Cameron Cummings; Mikey Lewallen; (9) Great Grandchildren - Kaden, Ayden, Lennix, Abbi, Avery, Silas, Quinn, Grayson, Parker ; Carol Locklear Tyler (daughter-in-law) and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 2-3 P.M. at Shannon Assembly of God. The funeral will begin immediately following the visitation beginning at 3 P.M. Burial will follow in the Shannon Assembly of God Church Cemetery.
