Wilbur L. Chartier, age 80, entered into rest on Monday, January 12, 2026, at North Central Kansas Regional Medical Center, Concordia, Kansas. He was born on January 12, 1946, in Concordia, Kansas to Archie C. and Verda F. (Kelly) Chartier.

He attended grade school at District 59 School at Ames, Kansas and high school at Clyde High School graduating with the class of 1964.

Wilbur started farming as soon as he could drive a tractor and assumed full farming responsibilities by age of 16. Farming was Wilbur’s life interest and fall corn harvest was his favorite time of year. He diligently cared for his cattle and his fields. He did some truck driving hauling grain to Oklahoma and Texas.

Wilbur met his life partner and love of his life, Linda Poppen, in Concordia, Kansas and Linda and Wilbur married on November 16, 1973, at The First Christian Church, Concordia, Kansas. They farmed in the Ames community until Wilbur’s retirement in 2024 because of his ailing health.

Wilbur served at Secretary/Treasurer of the Pleasant View Cemetery, Cloud County Rural Fire District #4 and was a deacon of The First Christian Church.

Wilbur will be missed by his Wife, Linda R. Chartier of the home; a brother, Dennis L. Chartier (Rhonda); Sister-in-law, Wanda K. Hancock (Maurice); one niece, 3 nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Archie C. Chartier and mother, Verda F. Chartier, a brother, Larry Chartier (Carol).

Visitation will be held from 9-10 am on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home prior to services.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas 66901 with Pastor Bob Burns officiating. A burial will follow in the Downs Cemetery, Downs, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to Park Villa Nursing Home or Clyde Ambulance and can sent in care of Chaput-Buoy, PO Box 606, Concordia, Kansas 66901. The arrangements are under the care of Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com
