Shirley Mae Dorothy Meyers Chartier, age 94, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on January 22, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on May 9, 1931 in Burrwood, LA and lived a long life marked by love, resilience, and faith. Shirley Chartier was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend. She was known for her kind heart, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her home was a place of warmth, wisdom, and comfort where stories were shared, memories were made, the door was always opened and the coffee was hot.

Throughout her life, she exemplified compassion, hard work, and a love for God. She found joy in her love for music, girls trips, embroidery, and puzzle books. Her gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She is preceded in death by her late husband Adam Chartier Sr., parents Henry and Dorothy Meyers, in-laws Theodore and Alva Chartier, brother Paul Meyers (Geni), sister Jackee Bartholomew (Calvin), and grandchildren Phillip Holder Jr. and Arlan Vaughn.

She is survived by her children Patricia Pelas (Dale), Adam Chartier Jr. (Carla), Gwendolyn Dufrene (Curt), Gary Chartier (Lisa), and Arleen Vaughn (Ben). Grandchildren Paula Chartier, Adam Torres (Yvonne), Kristy Torres, Jessica Torres, Jennifer Arceneaux (Ryan), Alycia Stewart (Shane), Andre Chartier (Bre), Chris Holder, Kimberly Encalade (Garen), Amelia Rogers (Brandon), Abby Chartier (Adam), Allison Chartier (Parker), Ember Milliman (Bradley), and Jourdon Stewart (Liam). Great-grandchildren Kaelyn St.Ann, Kylei St.Ann (Patrick), Kharlee St.Ann (Kellan), Khambren Williams, Jace Torres, Harvey Torres, Angel Stone (Daron Sr.), Camren Boudreaux (Vanessa), Rema Chouest, Timothy Chouest, Sutton Brenner, Cassidy Feraud (Remy), Kelsey Waltman, Emery Reilly, Morgan Arceneaux, Cole Stewart, Addison Stewart, Cohen Chartier, Dion Holder, Carlea’ Holder, Alex Encalade, Aden Encalade, A’riah Encalade, Elloise Rogers, Eden Rogers, Aurora Milliman, James Milliman, William Milliman, Charles Milliman, and Owen Stewart. Extended great-grandchildren Nick Boudreaux, Madeline Boudreaux (Malik), Addison Boudreaux, Ethan Boudreaux, Riley Banks, and Jaded Melerine. Great-great-granddaughter Daronae’ White and great-great step grandchildren Daron White Jr., Cylus Stovall, Rosie Boudreaux, and August Rogers. Godmother of Melissa Meaux as well as the host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A celebration of her life will be held on February 2, 2026 from 9:00am with mass starting at 12:00pm St. Patrick’s Church. Interment will follow at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
