Wild Bill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones - Gallagher Funeral Home - Keystone Heights on Oct. 1, 2025.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William Laverne Murwin, Jr., age 76, of Melrose, Florida. William passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and service. Born November 15, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, to William and Frances Murwin, he was raised with strong Southern values of family, faith, and country that shaped his life's journey. To his friends, he was known as Wild Bill or Fryer Tuck.
A proud veteran, William honorably served his country in the United States Navy. His deep love for America and devotion to protecting freedom carried on throughout his life. After his military service, he dedicated his career as a Sergeant Correctional Officer with the Florida State Prison, where he served with strength and integrity.
William was also a life member of the Keystone Amvets and the U.S. Military Motorcycle Club in High Springs, where he found brotherhood, camaraderie, and the joy of the open road. These communities gave him a place to share stories, laughter, and the spirit of patriotism that burned so brightly within him.
A man with a strong heart and steady hand, William will be remembered for his dedication to family and friends, his love for his country, and his Southern gentleman's way of life. His presence filled a room with warmth, and his devotion to those he loved will remain a guiding light.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Sr. and Frances Murwin and his brother, Robert M. Murwin. He leaves behind his sisters Linda Raulerson and Cheryl Curtis and brother Kenneth Murwin, all of Melrose, FL. Wild Bill cherished family, beloved friends, and all those who proudly rode beside him in life. Though he has gone on to his Heavenly home, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
At the request of Bill, there are currently no public services scheduled.
"Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate. Your watch is now complete."
