Wilfred Louis "Wil" Jensen Jr.

Wilfred "Wil" Louis Jensen Jr., age 85, passed away on October 5, 2025. He was the only child born on April 17, 1940, in Portland, Oregon, to the late Margaret and Wilfred Louis Jensen Sr. On August 11, 1962, Wil married Donna Clark, sharing 45 years of marriage until her passing in December 2007.

Together they raised two sons, Dale Jensen (Laura Jensen Shope) and David Jensen. Wil was the proud grandfather of Wilder and Corbin Jensen. In recent years, Wil shared a special companionship with Charlene Rivard, who passed away in February 2025. He cared deeply for Charlene and her daughters, Lisa Craig (Steve), Kara Volpe, and Laura Zenallis.

Wil loved his family and especially cherished every moment with his grandchildren and later with Charlene's grandchildren. A devoted member of Woodside Bible Church, Wil lived a life grounded in faith, education, and adventure.

After receiving his Bachelor of Theology degree from Multnomah School of the Bible in 1962, Wil pursued his Bachelors in American History degree from Seattle Pacific University in 1964 and his Masters in History from the University of Michigan in 1969.

Wil dedicated 35 years of his life to teaching in Bloomfield Hills Schools, primarily at the former Lahser High School. A Social Studies teacher by trade, he was especially proud of and passionate about his "Man in Nature" course. Beginning in 1983, he led students on an annual week-long trip to Killarney Provincial Park in Canada, where they explored the outdoors through canoeing and backpacking - experiences that inspired generations of students.

Wil's love of the outdoors likely began with summers spent on the Oregon coast with his family and fishing for salmon with his Uncle Bud. Wil found joy in hiking, canoeing, sailing and spending time by the water. He took his sons backpacking and camping at an early age, instilling a love of the outdoors. Wil ran a waterfront recreation program on Walnut Lake for Bloomfield Hills Schools during the summers of his teaching career. In retirement, he continued to volunteer with the "Man in Nature" program and spent many weekends on his son and daughter-in-law's farm helping with chores and canoeing on the pond with his grandsons.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 9:30–11:00 a.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (2600 Crooks Road, Troy, MI 48084). A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
