Willard A. "Wilbur" Gravius, 73, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, following a lengthy illness. Willard was born on January 23, 1949, in Massillon, Ohio the son of Arvine Gravius and Frances (Watkins) Gravius. He was a third-generation lifelong carpenter that worked with his father and grandfather as a young man and completed his career with Bader Builders in Massillon. He was a 1968 graduate of Tuslaw High School. Willard was a Navy veteran and completed two tours in Vietnam 1969-1970. He was a Seabee with MCB62 located at Dong Ha and Quang Tri. Upon returning from service, Willard became a life member at each of the following organizations; American Legion Post #221, DAV #38, VFW #3124, and AMVETS #12. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at Brewster Lake.
He is survived by his partner of 25 years, Helen Yannayon; daughter, Kelly (Eric) Ryan; sons, Matthew (Crystal) Gravius, Larry Gravius, and Jody (Heather) Gravius; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted and John Gravius; and sisters, Nancy (Jim) Jobe, Barbara (Chip) Greathouse, and Charlotte (Tom) Rolli.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 12-2 p.m. at Paquelet Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Stanwood Cemetery. Messages of comfort and support may be sent to the family at www.paquelet.com.
