Willfloyd Paul "Willie" Strey

Willfloyd "Willie" Paul Strey was born on January 31, 1931 in Guadalupe County Texas. He entered eternal rest on August 1, 2025 at the age of 94. He was the son of Otto and Alvina Mattke Strey, and was one of eleven children.
Willie married Lillian Luensmann Strey on April 29, 1961. Together they had three daughters, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two on the way.
Willie served in the US Air Force in South Dakota for four years. He started out doing sheet rock work with his brothers Kenneth and Otto Strey. He then went on to work for the US Postal Service for approximately 30 years, retiring in 1989.
Willie was well known for his "grape juice". He made wine for approximately 50 years and it was sold in many an auction. He also grew watermelons in La Vernia and always had lots of vegetables from his garden to share with others. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved ten pin and nine pin bowling. He was a lifetime member of Bexar Bowling Club and Hermann Sons.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, his great granddaughter, Ava Canham, numerous brothers/brothers-in-law, sisters/sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
Willie is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Lillian, his daughters and their spouses Karen and Terry Canham, Loretta and John Corkran, Marsha and Mike Schulze. Grandchildren and spouses Cody and Krysta Canham, Tyler and Kelsey Canham, Trent and Collette Corkran, Avery Corkran and Sheyenne Strackbein, Colt and Shannon Canham, Mayson and Aerin Schulze, Garrett and Kaymey Corkran and Mady Schulze/Kaleb Collins. Great grandchildren Carson Corkran, Jaxon Corkran, Otto Corkran, Ellie Canham, Ace Corkran, Ozzi Corkran, Parker Canham, Luke Canham, Baby Canham and Baby Schulze. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 9 to 10 AM at Redeemer Church in Zuehl, TX. The service will begin at 10:00 AM with Pastor Jennifer Gold officiating.
Interment with military honors will immediately follow the services in the Redeemer Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Canham, Tyler Canham, Trent Corkran, Avery Corkran, Colt Canham, Mayson Schulze, Garrett Corkran, and Mady Schulze.
