Lt. Commander, William Charles Abbruzzese, (US Navy Retired), 84, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.

Born on February 25, 1941, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, William was the son of the late Joseph and Edith Abbruzzese. Upon moving to the United States, he proudly served in the United States Navy for 27 years, where he received several awards for his exemplary service, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and two Bronze Stars in recognition of his heroic achievements. His time serving on submarines was a significant part of his military career, and he remained connected with submarine mariner groups and veteran organizations, including the VFW and the American Legion, throughout his life.

In addition to his military service, William was a respected figure in our community through his business, Master Guns & Ammo, LLC, which he established in 2017. He shared his extensive knowledge, expertise and skills with many loyal customers over the years.

William always had a deep appreciation for the water and enjoyed sailing and time spent on his boat. In his free time, he enjoyed the intricate work of assembling models and engaging in crafts that showcased his keen attention to detail.

In the mid-1990s, after retiring, William and his beloved wife, Frances, made their home in Carteret County, North Carolina, where he enjoyed the natural beauty of the coast.

Those remaining include his devoted wife, Frances Abbruzzese; daughter, Antoinette Setliff (Aaron) of Virginia; and granddaughter, Tabby Stamper of Newport, NC.
