William Amsbaugh Obituary

William R. "Bill" Amsbaugh Sr., 88, of Kerrville, TX, a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, passed away April 24, 2024. The son of William G and Wanda Amsbaugh, Bill was born in Gary, Indiana on September 29, 1935. He is survived by his wife, Christena Amsbaugh.
Bill always believed that success was achieved through hard work and service. And that's how he lived his life. In addition to serving his country in Canada, and overseas in Vietnam and Germany as a Civil Engineer, Bill held a distinguished position as a member of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Bill retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 24 years of service. Upon retiring from the Air Force, he took a position as an Engineering Technician with the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Kansas City, MO. Upon retiring from HUD, he managed the Sedalia Housing Authority in Sedalia, MO as Director.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Jane "Jean" Amsbaugh; a grandson, Corey Amsbaugh; and two great -grandchildren, Anna Jean Scarbrough and Libby Schaefer.
Bill leaves behind a sister, Carol Lasher; five children, Beth Rosenthal (Steve), William R Amsbaugh Jr. (Judy), Brenda Rhinehart (John), Brian Amsbaugh (Suzanne) and Bart Amsbaugh (Lori). He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Andrea Schaefer, Ashley Bell, Stacey Skelton, Amanda Mabrey, William R Amsbaugh III, Clint Corbett, Krystal Scarbrough, Courtney Amsbaugh, Christopher Amsbaugh, Matthew Amsbaugh, Brian Amsbaugh; twenty-four great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held in Kerrville, TX at a later time.
