William D. "Bill" Anderson, age 98, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, with his family by his side.
Bill was born in
Pocatello, ID on January 4, 1928, the first son of Dean and Bertha Anderson. His early years were spent in Pocatello, and in 1944 he and his parents moved to Chilly, ID where his father had taken up ranching. Bill attended schools in
Pocatello, ID and Mackay, ID, where he was very active in athletics like football, track and basketball. He graduated from Mackay High School in 1945 and attended University of Utah before entering the US Navy.
A survivor of WWII, Bill spent his entire tour of duty attached to the U.S. Naval Government, Bank of Guam. He was also involved in opening the first Bank of Guam on the island of Saipan.
He received his honorable discharge on December 22, 1947, enrolled at Idaho State College in January 1948, and graduated in May 1951 with a degree in business administration. During his college years he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon and was one of the founding members of the Gamma ETA chapter in December 1949.
He began his business and sales finance career in April 1951 with Commercial Credit Company and married the lovely Trudi Nickerson on September 29, 1951. He was later transferred to
Salt Lake City, UT and
Twin Falls, ID, and then to
Boise, ID on January 1, 1957, as a district manager.
During his tenure in
Boise, ID, he was active with the B.P.O. Elks and Boise Lions Club. On November 1, 1967, he transferred to
Salt Lake City, UT as an Area Finance Manager for Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. On January 1, 1977, he transferred to
San Jose, CA as division manager for part of Northern California. He retired from Commercial Credit Company on February 1, 1984, which lead him and Trudy to move back to
Boise, ID.
Bill enjoyed skiing, hunting, fishing, traveling and playing golf with the "crew" at Eagle hills. He and Trudi traveled extensively here and abroad, enjoying their many cruises that touched on all but two continents.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Dean Anderson; brother, Jack R. Anderson and his wife, Trudi Anderson.
Bill is survived by his children, Paula Austin, Dirk Anderson (Sue), Nikki Sparkman and Julie Jones (Darrell); brothers, Thomas R. Anderson and Michael F. Anderson (Sally), sister, Linda Anderson and seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
