William R. Angermeier died on July 20, 2024, at the age of 94.
He was born in Blair County, Pennsylvania on June 22, 1930, and was married to Mary Ann Diffley for 62 years prior to her passing on December 9, 2013.
William is survived by their three children, Geary Angermeier (Susan) of Chesnee, SC, Cindy David (Gary) of Fremont, NC, and Gregory Angermeier (Julie) of New Bern, NC; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, July 25th, from 3:00-5:00PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 2100 East 5th Street, Greenville, NC. His funeral will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2700 East 4th Street, at 11:00AM on Friday, July 26th. He will be buried beside Mary Ann at Crown Memorial Park in Pineville, NC.
William was a resident of Charlotte, NC for 57 years, and a 30-year member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He was, by profession, an engineer and enjoyed problem solving to the end. As he laid on his death bed, he was looking at the ceiling and describing a rail and lift system to carry him to the bathroom.
He also enjoyed competition. He bought an old sailboat to repair and sail as a relaxing hobby. He was invited to race it once and was soon spending his winters modifying it to the limits allowed and racing even the boats that were just out on the lake for a relaxing sail. Later in his life, he got into competitive golfing, billiards, and bowling.
He was a man of many opinions and stories and shared them with everyone he met. He said moving to Cypress Glen seven years ago was one of the best decisions he ever made. He made many new friends and enjoyed a full and happy life.
Memorial donations in William's name may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, Cypress Glen, HomeWell Care Services, or Pruitt Home Health & Hospice.
