William "Bill" Beaver, age 89, of Mountain View Drive in Burnsville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife, at the solace center in Asheville. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Claude and Nell Hughes Beaver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Taylor, and her husband, Reece; sister-in-law, Dorothy McDougald; and brothers-in-law: Randy Hughes and his wife, Joan, Tommy Hughes, and Charles Hughes.
Bill worked for Mohasco in Burnsville for seven years and for Robinson Dairy for eight years before beginning a thirty-three-year career with Pet Dairy, where he worked faithfully until retiring early in 1996 due to illness.
A devoted member of Riverside Baptist Church for many years, Bill served as a deacon for seven years and enjoyed driving the church bus, helping others attend services. Outside of work and church, Bill loved bowling and was proud of the many trophies he earned over the years. He also cherished time spent deer hunting with his friends.
Bill will always be remembered as a kind, loving soul who loved everyone. His gentle spirit, generosity, and warm smile touched the lives of all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Louise Beaver; son, Darrell Beaver and his wife, Mary Alice, of Sumter, SC; two granddaughters: Maria Carver and her husband, Stephen, of Mars Hill, and Marisha Cubra and her husband, Kenny, of Burnsville; great-grandchildren: Aidan Coleman and Blair Cubra; brothers-in-law: Robert Hughes of Burnsville and Clifford McDougald of Erwin, TN; sisters-in-law: Kay Davis Hughes of Spruce Pine and Viola Hughes of Burnsville; and special friend, Wayne McCurry of Ft. Mill, SC. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3rd, 2025, at Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Terry Allen and Rev. Chris Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the West Burnsville Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Compassionate Care WNC, CarePartners Home Health, and the John F. Keever Solace Center for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Bill during the last years of his life.
