William Neil Belan, 76, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Charles and Anne (Ninchak) Belan, he was born in Monessen on December 8, 1948.

Neil graduated from Monessen High School in 1966 before earning a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in Reading Specialization from the former California State College. During his time there, he was also a proud member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. Neil began his professional life as an educator before transitioning into the surgical instrument industry, where he built a distinguished career. He ultimately served as Director of Sales for Microline Surgical, a role from which he retired in 2016.

He was a devoted member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, where he also sang in the choir. In addition, he performed with the Pro Musica Men's Choir and, in his youth, proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 510 in Monessen, PA. Neil was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, loved music, and was a wildlife enthusiast, feeding all the animals in his yard and neighborhood strays.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen (Moravec) Belan; two sons, Jonathan Belan and his fiancée Danielle (D'Antonio) of Belle Vernon, and Neil Belan and his wife, Melinda (Jolley) of Washington Twp; a daughter, Lesley Belan of Peoria, AZ; four grandchildren, Jude Belan, Violet Yarde, Laila Rossell, and Sylvie D'Antonio; two sisters, Sandra Whiteman and her husband, Robert, of Richmond, VA, and Myra Feher of Allentown, PA; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Kiki and Capone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Col. Charles Belan, and a sister, Melody LaFrance.

Arrangements will be private for the family and have been entrusted to the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, (724) 929-5300. www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
