Bill and I flew the SP-2H Neptune in Memphis, Tn. together. He was one of my instructors when I transitioned from the RA5C. He was great. It was a most enjoyable time going from a mach-2 jet to the P-2. I will be attending the cemetery service.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not meant to be.
So He put His arms around you and whispered "COME TO ME". With tearful eyes, we watched you and saw you pass away. Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
Soar with the eagles, dear friend. We miss you.

My Uncle Chap was a great man and I will miss him very much. He and Aunt Janie always had fun wherever they went, and I´m thankful they came to see us in Savannah and met their great-great nephew and niece...such a great day. I will smile when I think of you, Uncle Chap, and I will miss our chats. I love you always. Del

My old friend Bill. You have entered a place of unimaginable peace.
We had a lot of fun during flight training. Remember our flight went
8 for 8 on our carrier qualification. Then on the Essex with you in VS-34 and me in HS-9. We did our share of "hooting with the owl" as well.
Janie, I understand your grief. I lost Peg 6 months ago to pancreatic cancer. With much love and respect.

I'm a good friend of Beth Curnow which is Jane's sister. I went to Florida with Beth and Tom, and we visited Bill and Jane. When I met them, it was like we knew each other already. They treated me like family. I'm so sad to hear he had passed. What a terrific guy he was. Lots of hugs and prayers to you Jane and family. Love from your sister from another mother.

Bill and Janie adopted our family into their lives after Steve passed and made us a part of their family. We have so enjoyed our time together. Bill was a force not to be reckoned with despite his Southern charm!

I have known Bill since 1967. We were both Officers in VS-34 in Quonset Point, RI. Bill was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. We both went our own ways after the Navy yet reconnected in the 90´s at the VS-34 Squadron Reunions. It was a privilege to be a friend of Bill Benton. Janie, Susan and I send our most sincere condolences.
