William "Bill" Gene Clark, a cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on February 7, 1935, in Bluffton, Indiana, Bill lived a life marked by dedication to his career, family, and various passions.
Bill was a proud graduate of Noblesville High School, class of 1953, and served his country diligently in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 and in the VI USA Corps Reserve from 1959 to 1963. His commitment to service was matched by his professional dedication, retiring in 2000 from State Gear in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he excelled as a CNC Machine Programmer.
Outside of his professional life, Bill found joy in many pursuits. He was an avid NASCAR fan, cheering passionately for his favorite drivers, Jeff Gordon and AJ Foyt. His enthusiasm also extended to sports, particularly supporting the Purdue men’s basketball team. Bill was also a remarkable woodworker, crafting beautiful pieces of furniture that adorned his home and those of his loved ones, including a special desk for his granddaughter Savannah when she was just in first grade.
Bill is survived by his loving family, including his beloved wife, Phyllis Clark, his sister Betty (Wilbur) Hamblin of Indianapolis, IN; his brother James (Shirley) Clark of Lebanon, IL; his sons Jeff (Beth) Clark of Nineveh, IN, Jimmie (Rhonda) Clark of Indianapolis, IN, and Ronnie Clark of Indianapolis, IN; his daughter Cindy (Matt) Rupert of Pittsboro, IN; his step-daughters Lisa (Mike) Bratcher of Parkland, FL, and Sheila Frakes of Cicero, IN. Bill was also a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 18 great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with love and warmth.
He was preceded in death by his father Wilbur Clark, his mother Elizabeth (Fryback) Clark, and his half-brother Anthony Clark.
A visitation will be held in honor of Bill on February 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine, IN, starting at 2:30 PM.
Bill's legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and unwavering support for his favorite teams will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and be cherished by his loved ones.
