William “Bill” J. McAlpine
William “Bill” James McAlpine, age 76, of Estherville, Iowa and formerly of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Aspire Nursing and Rehabilitation of Estherville, Iowa. His Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Fr. Siby Punnoose ~ Officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa
Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 ~ 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa with a Parish Rosary being prayed at 5:00 P.M.
In Lieu of flowers the family would like Memorials to be Directed to the Village NW Unlimited and or to the Special Youth Challenge Ministry.
The Service will be Livestreamed on the Eldridgefamilyfuneralhomes.com website
Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

WILLIAM “BILL” JAMES MCALPINE
William “Bill” James McAlpine the son of Harold and Irene (Haroldson) McAlpine was born August 15, 1947 in Sheldon, Iowa. Bill attended schools in St. Coletta’s in Jefferson, Wisconsin and Good Shepherd Manor in Kansas City, Missouri and returned to Sheldon in the early 1970’s, Bill also graduated from NW Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa with a degree in Janitorial Service. Bill worked at Northwest Enterprises for many years. Bill passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Aspire Nursing and Rehabilitation of Estherville in Estherville, Iowa reaching the age of 76 years, 10 months and 3 days.
Bill was a past member of St. Patrick Catholic Churches in Estherville and Sheldon. He enjoyed singing and singing with the Village Northwest Singers for many years. They sang in many churches and Long-Term Care Facilities throughout Northwest, Iowa. He enjoyed walking and visiting with people throughout the communities he lived. Bill also enjoyed bowling, Minnesota Twins Baseball, bingo and Yahtzee. Bill enjoyed having coffee and his Dr. Pepper. Bill loved spending time with his family. Bill always had a smile and hug for everyone.
He is survived by his siblings, Patricia (Craig) DenHartog of Sheldon; Susan (Gary) Behrens of Arnolds Park, Iowa; Mary Ruyter of Sheldon; Pat McAlpine of Sheldon; David (Jan) McAlpine of Elkhorn, Nebraska; Mike (Jean) McAlpine of Sioux Center, Iowa; James (Lynnete) McAlpine of Sheldon; Daniel (Cheryl) McAlpine of Waukee, Iowa and Robert (Erica) McAlpine of Hull, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Irene McAlpine.
