William Lee "Bill" Readdy

1939 - 2025

Entered into rest on Thursday, May 15, 2025, Mr. William "Bill" Lee Readdy, 85, loving husband of 63 years to Brenda Burnette Readdy.

Bill was a lifelong native of Augusta and graduated from Augusta Richmond Academy. He proudly served in the United States Navy and retired after 39 years from Olin Chemical Corporation. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed going to Mrytle Beach with his family and going to the car shows with Roy and Karl. He was a devoted church member and loved his church family as his own. Bill was a friend to many and never met a stranger. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who loved being "Poppee" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughters: Theresa Readdy Clingan (Alan), Leigh Readdy Jones, and Angela Readdy Gates (Bert); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; adoptive children: Tammie and Perry Austin; and sisters: Janette Poore and Nancy Loftus (Tony). He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward E. Readdy, Sr. and Alma Chumley Readdy, brothers, Edward E. Readdy, Jr. and Charles S. Readdy, and grandson, SPC Tyler Ray Gates.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Ascension Lutheran Church with Rev. Blaney Pridgen officiating. Interment will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., at the church.
