WILLIAM BRANSON SHARPTON
Evans, GA - It is with great sadness and yet hopeful joy that we announce the passing of our beloved William B. “Bill” Sharpton. Bill passed away at WellStar MCG Medical Center on June 22, 2025, going from the loving arms of his wife to the loving arms of the Lord.
Bill was born in Abbeville, South Carolina on November 26, 1950, to William C. and Carolyn Fisher Sharpton, the first of three children. He married the love of his life, Anne Elizabeth Gephart, on November 20, 1982. Anne survives Bill, as does their son: Compton W. (Kimberly) Cooper; and three granddaughters: Gloria, Magdalene and Anya. Bill is also survived by his sister: Nell Jones; and his brother: Neal (Gwen) Sharpton, as well as his niece: Kelly Jones and nephew: Matthew Jones. Bill also leaves behind many friends who cherish their time with him and the memories that they hold, and his precious feline pets.
Bill was a proud Vietnam Era Veteran serving in the United States Air Force. He attended the University of South Carolina majoring in electrical engineering. He worked primarily in nuclear power and other industries as a master electrician, where he also held leadership positions.
Bill recently was ordained as a Deacon at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Evans, Georgia. Bill had a great love of history and was very knowledgeable on the subject. He was an avid reader of many subjects but spent much of his time reading and studying the Bible. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycling and was a strong proponent of motorcycle safety and etiquette. He and Anne enjoyed numerous adventures on a touring motorcycle.
Bill was a man of his word, who was strong in his convictions. He loved the Lord, his family, and his country. He believed strongly in his faith, which he lived daily. We are confident that he was welcomed in heaven by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So many people have commented to Anne that they had not met a better person than Bill. What a wonderful legacy!
Bill will be sorely missed but we know he is no longer suffering and is with the Lord in heaven. We take great peace in that. The family wishes to thank all of the friends, especially those from Redeemer Church for their support during the last several months. God speed, Bill. We love you!
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 2540 William Few Parkway, Evans, GA.
