Mr. William Jeffrey “Jeff” Bishop, age 61
Of Waverly, TN passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025. He was born November 10, 1963, in Honolulu, Hawaii to William and Mary Ann Bishop.
As a retired Captain for the Tennessee Department of Corrections, Jeff devoted 35 years of his life to service at the Turney Center, where he was known for his integrity and commitment to both his job and the people he worked with.
Beyond his professional life, Jeff was a man of many interests and passions. He found joy in gardening and grilling. Fishing was another pastime, often enjoyed in the company of loved ones, a time for relaxation and creating lasting memories. A Civil War history buff, Jeff possessed a deep appreciation for the past, often immersing himself in books and documentaries that explored this pivotal time in American history.
One of Jeff’s proudest accomplishments was his role as a Pawpaw. He treasured the moments spent with his grandchildren, devotedly nurturing and guiding them as they grew. His warmth and affection created an enduring bond that will be cherished by his family.
Jeff also took great pride in caring for the family cemetery, finding solace in tending to the graves of loved ones. His thoughtful creations of flower arrangements served not only as a tribute to those who had passed but also as a reflection of his deep love for family and tradition.
Jeff leaves behind a legacy of compassion, hard work, and devotion to family that will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Graveside Services for Mr. Bishop will be conducted at 1:30pm Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Waverly.
