William (Bill) Henry Bixenman, 92, of Grinnell, KS passed away peacefully at his home in Grinnell on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
He was born September 27, 1931, in Hays, KS to John and Mary (Ostmeyer) Bixenman. Bill attended Pleasant Ridge Country School north of Grinnell. On August 18, 1956, he married Harriett Beedy. Bill was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grinnell, KS. He was a member of the Angelus 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council #2773.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Harriett; two daughters, Denise and Gerri; sisters, Doris Manhart and Stella Krannawitter; and brothers, Fred and Joe Bixenman.
Survivors include his children, Pam Bechard (Richard), Shawnee, KS; Doug Bixenman (Lisa), Grinnell, KS; Stephanie Ostmeyer (Terry), Grinnell, KS; Roger Bixenman (Karla), Hays, KS; and 12 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren.
Bill served in the US Army from 1951-1953 and was stationed in Japan. He was a life-long farmer/rancher. They lived on the family farm until 1986 when they moved to Grinnell. He had so much love for his family and relished every opportunity to attend his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He also loved to watch the Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs. His most enjoyable hobby was playing cards with family and friends.
Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Parish Center in Grinnell, KS with a Vigil at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell. Burial with military honors by Grinnell VFW Post 2864 will take place in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Grinnell Senior Center or Hospice and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701. For information or condolences visit baalmannmortuary.com
