Glennville,
Mr. William Wayne Blocker, age 77, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and under care of Southern Regency Hospice. He was born February 12, 1945, in Glennville to Earl and Vonzie Driggers Blocker and had lived in Tattnall County all of his life. Throughout his life he was a fearless entrepreneur. His business empire included multiple mobile home parks (Beard's Creek Mobile Home Park, Blocker Mobile Home Park, and Sandhill Mobile Home Park), a gas station, and laundromat among other business ventures. Although managing retail operations and rentals kept him busy all day, every day, Wayne would carve out a little down time. Among his favorite pastimes was fishing. When the sunset, he could often be found watching Gunsmoke or Wagon Train. Wayne also loved to travel, both places near and far. After attending his church service at Glennville First United Pentecostal Church, he would enjoy rides throughout Long and Tattnall counties. This was a time for relaxation and to see what was happening around the county. Many of those road trips would also coincide with a trip to one of the countless southern cooking restaurants that he enjoyed. Above all else though, he would cherish the time that he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren. A hard-working man that was devoted to his family and to building a better community; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Linda Sue Blocker; his daughter, Lisa Ann Blocker; his sister, Gwytha Swope; and an uncle, Lacy Driggers.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Blocker of Glennville; his children, Charlene Blocker (Robert Stanfield), Samantha (Scotty) Hinson, Richard Blocker, Stacy (Michael) Canady, Crystal Blocker (Gustavo Garcia), and Ashley Blocker all of Glennville; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, January 29, 2023, from the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home with Bishop James Holland officiating. Interment will follow in the Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gustavo Garcia, Jr., Brandon Christianson, Ryan Christianson, and Earl Blocker.
