WILLIAM "BILL" BLOEDOW

9/27/1944 – 12/2/2025

William "Bill" Bloedow, 81, died on December 2, 2025, living life-and leaving it-on his own terms. Born in Robbinsdale, Bill spent most of his life in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

A gifted designer, art director, and fashion devotee, Bill worked for Modern Medicine, Mpls/St. Paul Magazine, and Dayton's Advertising Department, designed programs for the Guthrie Theater, and freelanced across the Twin Cities. Bill delighted in telling the story of giving Cindy Crawford her first magazine cover. He mentored many young artists throughout his career and was recognized for his leadership in disability inclusion and diversity at Dayton's.

Bill lived with courage, authenticity, and impeccable style. He came out early, lived openly, and inspired many. Active in AA, he found lifelong friendships and community.

Devoted to building community, Bill served on boards including the Goldstein Museum of Design and the Minnesota Center for Photography, and volunteered with the Minnesota Peace Initiative and Norway House. He treasured his coffee groups, book clubs, and beloved collection of costume jewelry.

Bill married James "Jim" Lewis in 2013 after 46 years together as partners and soulmates. He is survived by Jim; brother Dan (Barbara); sisters-in-law Jeanne Bloedow, Connie Lewis, and Rita Lewis; brother-in-law Ken Peterson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, a nephew and two grand nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 2–5 PM at Norway House, with a program at 3 PM. Wear your bling-Bill would.
