William P. "Bill" Bodkin, 76, of Hanover, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Born in Boston on October 2, 1948, Bill was the beloved son of the late George and Albina (Stacewicz) Bodkin. He grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School before continuing his education at Northeastern University and the Wentworth Institute of Technology. Following graduation, he began a fulfilling career as an electrical engineer at Teradyne, where he worked until his retirement in 2013. His role took him on many business trips across Europe and Asia, and he became fluent in Japanese along the way. In his younger years, Bill also served as a volunteer with the Boston Ambulance Squad.
Bill was the devoted husband of Lillian "Lee" (Corcoran) Bodkin. Married for 46 years, the couple first settled in Weymouth before moving to Hanover to raise their family. He was a loving and proud father to Patricia (Bodkin) Martucci, John Bodkin, and Christopher Bodkin.
A passionate gardener, Bill found great joy in tending to his roses, hydrangeas, and dahlias, as well as growing vegetables in his backyard. He was thrilled when he finally got his ride-on John Deere tractor, which he used with great enthusiasm. Bill loved working with his hands-whether renovating around the house, crafting detailed birdhouses, or building something new. He also
cherished time at the beach, especially weekends at Duxbury Beach and family vacations on Cape Cod. A fond animal lover, he cared for many pets over the years, from parakeets, fish, guinea pigs, and cats to his beloved dogs, Bailey and Bella.
Above all, Bill treasured his role as "Pa" to his four grandchildren-Lilly, Luca, Abigail, and Lea. Whether giving tractor rides, playing games, hosting tea parties, or reading stories, he was never happier than when he was with them.
Even in the face of adversity, Bill met life with quiet strength. Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia in 2021, he fought to maintain his independence, supported with unwavering love and care from his son John. After a brief battle with cancer, Bill passed away on his own terms, peacefully and with his wife by his side.
He is survived by his wife Lee of Hanover; daughter Patti and her husband Jeff Martucci of Bridgewater; son John Bodkin of Hanover; son Christopher Bodkin and his wife Kristina of Winthrop; his brother James Bodkin and wife Mary of Quincy; his brothers-in-law Paul Corcoran and his wife Gail of Lewes, DE; Jack Corcoran and his wife Mary of Everett, MA; and David Corcoran and his wife Glenda of San Diego, CA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The Bodkin family wishes to express deep gratitude to the staff at Benchmark at Hanover for their kindness and compassion, and to his dedicated medical team-especially Dr. Clifford Saper.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Thursday, May 8, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street (Rte. 53), Hanover. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 9th at 9Am at Our Lady of the Angel's- St. Mary's Church, 392 Hanover St, Rte 139 in Hanover. Burial will follow at Hanover Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to:
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Designated to: The Dr. C.B. Saper Research Fund 330 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 0221

Bill hired me right from the school when Teradyne came recruiting to McGill. I could'nt have asked for a better manager and a better team at the start of my career. Had a wonderful time working for him and learned so much from. Had to leave Teradyne after two years to return to Canada. It is so sad to hear about Bill's passing. My deepest condolences to the entire Bodkin family. Bill was a wonderful person. May he rest in peace.

So sad to hear about Bill´s passing. I had the privilege of knowing Bill for more than 44 years ago at Teradyne. He was always happy, smiling and a very good sense of humor, very close to nature and loving everything around him. My condolences to his loving family, will be always thinking about him

I was so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. I was happy to hear of his large, loving family that helped him through what must have been many challenges in his later years. Bill and I go way back over many years at Teradyne. While we rarely worked on the same project, our technical interests were similar. His door was always open to explore solutions to the latest problem at hand. We shared many lunches and occasional after work get togethers at restaurants and watering holes in the downtown Boston areas. Many fond memories! Bill will always be in my memory as a kind, unflappable guy that faced every challenge with vigor and expertise, and was a good friend.

I´m very sorry to hear this. I very much enjoyed my time working with Bill at Teradyne and I learned quite a lot from him about the engineering behind high-power AC-to-DC and DC-to-DC conversion, knowledge that continues to stand me in good stead to this day.

My condolences to everyone!

I had the privilege of working closely with Bill for a number of years at Teradyne. He always rose to confront a technical challenge and wrestle it into submission. He was a superb colleague!
