He was married to Judy (Rommell) Trehub on April 28, 1963, where they enjoyed over 62 wonderful years of marriage.
Shortly after marriage, Dick was deployed to Tokyo, Japan where he rose to the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army where he served as Comptroller for the Far East network.

Dick was also a man of many interests, hobbies, and passions. He and Judy enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world where Dick was interested in learning the local culture and meeting the local people in each of the many countries they visited. He grew up as a passionate Boston sports fan with the Red Sox being his favorite sports team. He also took tremendous pride in the activities of his children and grandchildren where he was always their #1 fan.
Dick was also very handy around the house, and he enjoyed the challenge of a wide range of home improvement projects. Dick loved a good meal with a wide range of food interests, but his beloved Pearl Hot Dogs were his favorite food. In recent years, he became an accomplished painter. His family always looked forward to seeing his latest work which included paintings of the family's pets.
