LELAND – William S. Bolinger, 86, of Leland, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024 at the Northport Highlands with his family at his side.
William was born in Sullivan, Indiana, the son of Howard and Sarah (Crowder) Bolinger. William was married to Carolyn (Blackmore) Bolinger for 67 years, who survives.
Bill graduated from Indiana University and earned his bachelor's degree. He spent 20+ years as a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch in St. Louis, Missouri. He loved Leelanau County and his grandparents owned a cottage and Bill spent many summers Up North until he and Carolyn retired here in 1996. He was a member of the Leland Country Club and was Commodore of the Leland Yacht Club.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carolyn; three children, William S. (Sue) Bolinger Jr., Deborah Hoadley, David Bolinger; a sister in law, Diane Bolinger; seven grandchildren, Michael (Bailey) Bolinger, Drew Bolinger, Tyler Bolinger, Sarah Garno, Jenny Thompson, Ben (Jess) Thirlby, T.J. Hoadley and nine great grandchildren, Mason, Quinn, Connor and Carter Bolinger, Chandler and Sawyer Garno; Shawn O'Connor, Emma and Myra Walk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert Bolinger.
Private family graveside services and burial in Beechwood Cemetery, Leland, has been held.

We shared many fond memories with Bill and Kay over decades in Leland. Our hearts go out to Kay and their family during this difficult time and hope to get to Leland again to give her our love. Chuck and Alisann Kepler
