William "Bill" Boyd Obituary
William "Bill" Dale Boyd, aged 57, of Sterling, OH, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
Born on August 9, 1966, in Lodi, Ohio, he was a pillar of character for all who surrounded him. Bill graduated from Cloverleaf High School in 1984. He then began working at Winkler Tire, established in 1953, as a floor worker in the mid 1990's. Through years of dedication and hard work, he became the owner in 2006, purchasing the company from his good friend, Jim Winkler. His honest and trustworthy approach to helping others is a legacy that will be missed and carried on through the excellent employees who run the shop.
Outside of work, Bill found joy fishing, watching NASCAR, pig roasts, visiting his Uncle Bill and Aunt Janet's farm. Most of all, Bill enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. His garage and house were always filled with loved ones, where they gathered to enjoy each other's company.
Bill was a generous person who cared deeply for his community. He consistently supported local charities, recognizing the indispensable role the community played in the success of his business. Bill valued qualities such as dedication, honesty, and personal responsibility. Bill is remembered with great love by his father, Jesse and Lourdes Boyd; sister and brother-in-law, Tracy D. and Kenneth Blevins Jr., sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Randy Hall-Keith, brother, Joshua Boyd, and nephew and his wife, Tyler and Katie Hall. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Mary Boyd and his beloved dog, TInker.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. A celebration of Bill's life will follow at his favorite place, Winkler Tire in Sterling from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Sterling Fire Dept., PO Box 35, Sterling, OH 44276.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to the community for all their support for Bill and Winkler Tire. With a special thank you extended to Stallard and Associates, the Pertee, Glessner, Rupp, Hammond, and Rinkes families as well as to all of Bill's dear friends including Mike Hill.
We remember Bill for the marks he left on the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy of integrity, friendship, and civic duty will continue to live on.
