William H. Brassell, 75, of Dunnellon, passed away on October 20, 2024. His battle with serious medical issues in the past years showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile. Despite the continuous pain, he remained a beacon of faith and love for those surrounding him.
William (Bill) was born on October 30, 1948, to parents, Alice and Orell Brassell, in Tampa, Florida. After graduating from Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Florida, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy as a Seaman E-3 during the Vietnam War. During his enlistment he also served with the attack squadron 64 on the flight deck of the USS America.
After an honorable discharge, Bill continued his dedication to service as an EMT in Miami, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada where he served as an EMT at the MGM Grand fire. Ending his commitment as an EMT, Bill continued a heroic service with the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Division where he aided as a first responder for the NASA space shuttle explosion at re-entry over Texas and the World Trade Center Disaster on September 11, 2001.
He was a lifelong Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast and lived life to its fullest. Riding was his sense of freedom. May your journey continue in the Kingdom of Heaven with those you love and are now reunited with. Rest easy our hero.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Orell Brassell, and two brothers, Richard and Robert Brassell. He is survived by his three children, Sharon Heflin, William Brassell, and Christopher Clark, and his grandchildren.
Bill's celebration of life service will be held at Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon on November 2, 2024 at 11:00 am.
