William Thomas Brogan December 1, 1945 – May 14, 2025
William "Bill" Thomas Brogan, 79, a lifelong resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, May 14, 2025, in
Media, PA.
Born on December 1, 1945, in Darby, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Dr. William T. and Marjorie M. (Pollard) Brogan.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria Elizabeth (Kugler) Brogan, and his sister, Barbara Fisher. Their love and support shaped his life, and he carried their memories with him always.
A proud 1965 graduate of St. James High School, Bill carried his education and values into a lifetime of accomplishments. A veteran of the United States Army, he served with dedication before embarking on a long and respected career as a senior service manager for Bard Business Systems, where he formed lasting relationships with many in the banking industry across the region.
For decades, Bill volunteered his time as a member of the Norwood 4th of July Committee, the Norwood Athletic Club, and the Norwood Haunted Park, helping to foster community spirit, celebrate traditions, and support local youth athletics and seasonal festivities. As part of his involvement with the Norwood Athletic Club, he dedicated many seasons to coaching boys' baseball and girls' softball, mentoring young athletes and instilling a love for the game. Additionally, Bill served as a DelVal Softball umpire for many seasons. As part of the 4th of July Committee, he was affectionately known as "the soda man" for his tireless efforts organizing and distributing beverages during the celebrations. Bill was an active participant in "The Dog House," a cherished gathering for St. James alumni. His involvement highlighted his deep pride in his alma mater and his loyalty to lifelong friendships. Bill's dedication to his community was formally recognized in 1995 when he received the Harry Pettit Citizenship Award, an honor bestowed upon him for his devoted service to Norwood. Bill also was a founding member of the Norwood Townwatch Committee in the 70s.
Outside of his commitments to work and community, Bill found joy in traveling to Europe and cruising, spending time with family, and watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles.
Bill is survived by his partner, Eileen Hartman; his son, Steven Brogan (Shannon); his daughter, Jennifer Brogan (Eric Morgan); and his grandsons, Riley and Brady Brogan. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he enriched.
His family would like to thank the amazing medical staff at Riddle Hospital and Riddle Village for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the Norwood Citizens 4th of July Association, Po BOX 193, Norwood Pa 19074 or the Golden Years Animal Sanctuary, 15850 Cannons Mill Rd, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920, honoring his commitment to both his community and his love for animals.
