William Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home & Crematory - St. Petersburg on Sep. 22, 2025.
Brown, William "Bill" Credle went to be with his loving Lord and Savior on September 13, 2025. He was born on December 14, 1932, in Wilson, NC. He later moved to Chapel Hill, NC and graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in Business Administration. Bill joined the Army and became a cryptologist stationed at NATO headquarters in Paris. After the Army, he joined the Insurance Company of North America as a Special Agent in Charlotte, NC where he met and married Carolyn Guthrie in 1960. After deciding the compensation was much higher in the stock market field, he moved on to become a manager at several trading firms in Charlotte, Houston and Nashville before selling in St Petersburg with Raymond James Financial for his last 12 years as the South Florida regional manager. After retirement, he spent many years travelling all over the world teaching classes along with his wife on over 100 cruises. After over 55 years of marriage, Carolyn passed away in 2016 and Bill relocated to Fort Myers. There he spent his years playing in bridge groups, watching his UNC Tarheels play, reading his mystery thriller books, and enjoying his beers while watching the sunset from his waterfront condos. Throughout his life he was very active in numerous groups and especially the Presbyterian Church. Bill is survived by his two Children: Mitchell Brown and his wife, Laurel of Jupiter, FL and Richard Brown and his wife, Candace of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren Allison, Kevin, Hunter, Chase, and Chloe, Kaylin, Peyton and three great-grandchildren Alyson, Jennaleigh, and Ridge. And his loving companion, his dog, Mr. Fox. There are no public services planned.
