William “Bill” Ray Buntin, 82, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025 peacefully at his home. Bill was born in Richmond, Missouri, to Roy Fred and Maryellen (White) Buntin on June 1, 1943.
Bill graduated from Moberly High School and went on to graduate from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, School of Pharmacy, in Pharmacology in 1966. He moved back to Moberly and purchased Koesters Drug Store. Bill later purchased Burtons Rexall with Ron Kirk, R.Ph. When MRMC was built, Bill and several partners owned the Professional Arts Building, located adjacent to the hospital, where he opened and operated Buntin Pharmacy until his retirement. Even in retirement, he still filled in at local pharmacies when needed.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an accomplished golfer. In his younger years, he played Fast Pitch Softball, Basketball, and Volleyball in the Moberly Recreational Leagues. Royals and Chiefs were the teams he followed and always rooted for since their existence. He was able to attend the 2015 World Series, Game One when the Royals won the game after an incredible fourteen innings. Missouri Tiger Basketball was an additional favorite, as he held season tickets for many years. Following Greyhound basketball was another beloved hobby, as he made several trips to Hutchinson, Kansas for the National Championship games. Golf was his true passion. If the weather cooperated and he was able, you could always find him on the course. Bill earned his hole in one in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Fred and Maryellen (White) Buntin.
Bill is survived by his wife, Katherine (Willer) Buntin, of the home. Children; Jeff Buntin, of Tempe, Arizona; Dru (Kate-Ann) Buntin, of Columbia, Missouri; Erica Buntin, of Kansas City, Missouri and Derek Buntin, of Moberly, Missouri. Two sisters; Sandy (Bill) Sullivan, Chatfield, Minnesota and Shirley (Bill) Hern, of Williamsburg, Virginia.
Bill is also survived by brothers-in-law; Kevin (Andrea) Willer, of Winter Springs, Florida, Kris (Erin) Willer, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, sisters in law; Karen (Dave) Kerns, of Lake Winnebago, Missouri, Kasey (Jeremy) Willer, of Paris, Missouri. Brother in law, Kory Willer of Moberly, Missouri and mother-in-law Donna Willer, of Moberly, Missouri.
Bill leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with many dear friends and acquaintances.
Visitation will be held at Pathway Millard Family Funeral Chapel on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. followed by services at 12:00 p.m.
